A large sculptural event took place in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in December 1973: the First International Exhibition of Sculpture in the Street, organized by the College of Architects, the Cabildo and the Savings Bank of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, well as by the city of the capital.
Forty-six were exposed works, many in situ, of which have been installed by places important samples, parks and boulevards of this city. Artists of various nationalities involved, among which Henry Moore (England), Julio González (Catalonia), Pablo Gargallo (Saragossa), Alberto Sanchez (Toledo), Zadkine (Russia), Alexander Calder (U.S.), Arnaldo Pomodoro (Italy), etc., be felt the absence of the Basque Eduardo Chillida.
“The Goslar Warrior” is made of bronze and measures three feet 1,10 and 1,22 meters,according BOC 25 June 2007, is a “representation of a fallen warrior, a figure lying with his head on one end and the shield at the foot, on the opposite side”. This sculpture also known as the “rest of the warrior”, located in the central boulevard of the city was made by Henry Moore (Castleford, England, 1898-1986) created this work to show the weakness that the power, peace more than war, sensitivity more than the glory. The artist is considered a great master of twentieth century sculpture and its influence is universal. The aforementioned work recalls the Warrior Dying iconographically, Henry also Moore, located in the Capitol Museum in Rome .
Moore is well known for its large cast bronze abstract sculptures that can be seen in many places around the world as works of art in the street.

The sculpture has been declared by the Government of the Canaries a Cultural (BIC) with the category of Good Furniture.
We have a first sculptural heritage order on the streets of our city.
However, apathy and ignorance are constantly attacking these magnificent works. The graffiti and graffiti are constant something that would have to locate and penalize the perpetrators as they do in other places. you're absolutely right few cities in the world can boast sculptures as important as santa cruz de Tenerife joan miro , oscar dominguez, henry moore, Martin chirino , Corberó , Igor Mitoraj,(kan yasuda en garachico!!!) etc. , and architectural works of Herzog and demeuron Calatrava (dispute to the)and they are not given the full attention they deserve , in fact most of the people of Santa Cruz desconococen they have , not to mention politicians. The best example of this is the work of Jaume Plensa this at the beginning of the boulevard that is small posters with names of artists of all ages , which night is not pq are some with broken light bulbs!!! We are talking about a man who is the author of a fountain in the millenium park chicago!!!!! anyway..
